What Makes A Good Delegate?
Our fabulous WiMUN X chairs give their top tips:
* ‘Someone who is confident, or if you are slightly shy, someone who gains confidence through the conference by giving it a go.’
* ‘My top 5 words to describe a good delegate are “prepared”, “confident”, “respectful”, “motivated” and “knowledgeable”.’
* ‘A good delegate is eloquent and well-prepared.’
* ‘Someone who understands what the views of other countries are as well as they know their own and can apply these effectively to the debate.’
* ‘It is important to make sure that you are not just speaking for the sake of it, ensure that you are making valuable contributions.’
* ‘It is always helpful if you are engaged and interested in the topic.’
* ‘Being analytical and articulate is very important when it comes to being a good delegate.’
* ‘Problem solving is a vital part of MUN, so developed skills in problem solving will be useful.’
Most importantly we want to see all delegates getting involved in debate, whether that be with one point of information or an Oscar-worthy performance taking the floor. And, if you take on the chairs advice and be prepared, engaged and articulate then you will definitely be a great delegate!
